(Primitive Orissa Tribes)


Tour- (A)

Day 01:(Thursday) Arrival at Bhubaneswar, transfer to Hotel. After fresh up sightseeing of Bhubaneswar Temples. O/N Hotel.

Day 02:(Friday) Morning tour of Hirapur Yogini temple , one of the four found in India along with Bell Metal village. Afternoon visit of Snake Charmers village, considered as one of the tribes of Orissa and visit of tribal Museum and Caves. O/N Hotel.

Day 03:(Saterday)Drive to Puri , one of the four holy place for the Hindus enroute visiting Asokan Rock Edict at Dhauli, patchwork village Pipili and the famous Sun temple of Konark. Evening Bazaars of Puri. O/N Hotel. (Total 150kms + visiting time).

Day 04: (Sunday) Drive through the typical Orissan village to Gopalpur, enroute visit the Chilika lake. O/N Gopalpur (total 220kms, 4hrs + visiting time).

Day 05:(Mon day) After breakfast drive to Rayagada enroute visiting typical south Orissan villages,Taptapani hot sulphur spring and the Savara or Saora villages. Savaras are the oldest tribe of India and have their own language. (Total 220kms drive + visiting time). Evening arrival in the Hotel at Rayagada.

Day 06:(Tues Day) After breakfast proceeds to the Niyamgiri mountain to see the different villages of primitive Dongaria Kondhs, see their particular stlyle of the houses, their village goddesses, where they used to give human sacrifice, their village council of houses. If you interested in little trekking then you can trek through the jungle of the mountain. Afternoon visit the village of metalsmith, called Agaria, who
makes the ornament of Dongaria Kondhs and their metal implements. Total drive 100kms + visiting time.

Day 07: (Wednes day) After breakfast proceeds to Chatikana, the weekly market of Dongariya Kondhs. Photographic activities in the market and later back
to Hotel . After lunch in the same hotel proceeds to Jeypore enroute visiting Ornamental Parajas tribe. O/N Hotel. (Morning 2hrs drive and afternoon 3hrsdrive +
visiting time).

Day 08:(Thursday)Early morning drive to the weekly market of Bondo, Gadaba and Didayi tribe. Lot of photographic activities there and later visits the villages of Baro Gadaba like Gotalpara, Kangrapada etc. Evening back to the hotel. (Total 3hrs drive+
visiting time).

Day 09:(Friday) Morning session visits the Kunduli market near Similigurha and back to the hotel. After having a quick lunch proceeds to Gupteswara area to see Dhuruva Gond tribes and visit hidden Siva lingam. Evening back to hotel. (Total 5hours drive + visiting time).

Day 10: (Saturday) Drive to Visakhapatnam enroute visiting an animal market. Evening Bazaars of Visakhapatman. Total 5hrs drive + visiting time).

Day 11:(Sunday) If Delhi flight, then in the morning visit the Simhachalam temple enroute to Airport. Departure. (Total 2hours)

Tour- (B)

Day-1- (Saturday):Arrival at Visakhapatnam , transfer to Jeypore. Total 5hrs drive. O/N hotel at Jeypore.

Day-2- (Sunday): Early morning proceeds to the weekly market of Bondo and Didayi tribes at mundiguda. Bondos are the most primitive tribes of Orissa living in the mountains called Bondo hills. Their language is called Remo, which comes under Austro-Asiatic language belonging to mundari group. The Bondos use scanty clothes to cover their body. The dress of a Bondo woman is remarkable. It is called Ringa of about 2feet length and feet in wide. It is striped and coloured cloth tied to the waist thread. The Bondo women usuing their indigenous looms to make ringa for them out of a plant fiber called kerang. They also use beautiful brass and aluminum necklaces and hundreds of bead necklaces to cover their beauty. After photo session proceeds to Gupteswara area to see the Dhuruba tribes. Evening back to the hotel. Total 4 hrs drive + visiting time.

Day-3- Monday:Drive to Machhakund area to visit primitive Barogadaba tribe. Villages like Gotalpara; Dural etc are the core houses of Gadabas. Watch their beautiful Dhemsa dance in one of the villages. Total drive 4hrs + visiting time.

Day-4-Tuesday: Drive to Rayagada enroute Paraja and Kondhs villages. Late ternoon visit the Niyamgiri mountain to visit the primitive villages of Dongariya kondh. Total 3hrs drive + visiting time.

Day-5- Wednesday: Visit Chatikana market and one of the Dongariya village and afternoon proceeds to Gopalpur. Total 270kms drive + visiting time.

Day-6- Thursday: Morning see the fishing activities near Bay of Bengal and proceeds to Puri enroute visiting Kalijai Temple Island in Chilika lake.200kms,5hrs. O/N Puri

Day-7- Friday: Visit of Konark Sun temple. Afternoon visit of traditional painting villages like Raghurajpur, Khasposak etc and Puri Jagannath temple and the bazaars area.100kms + visiting time. O/N Puri.

Day-8- Saturday:Drive to Bhubaneswar enroute visiting Pipili village and Dhauli Stupa. Afternoon visit of ancient temples of Bhubaneswar.60kms + visiting time.

Day-9- Sunday:Visit Hirapur yogini temple and bell metal workshop in the village, snake charmers village,tribal museum and Udayagiri caves.

Day-10- Monday- Transfer and Departure.

Day 01 : Arrive DELHI                                                                      INT’L FLIGHT
Arrive Delhi & Meet with our Airport Representative. Thereafter transfer in Private Car to your preferred hotel. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 02 :  DELHI                        
After Breakfast meeting with your Guide {Department of Tourism approved} at the lobby of the Hotel. Visit Old and New parts of Delhi - each with its specific charm and glory - makes a very interesting city for its sustenance to medieval and modern cultures at the same time and space. In the first half you will visit Old Delhi - including Jama Masjid (Mosque), Gandhi’s Cremation Site and a Rikshaw ride to Red Fort followed by the visit of Humanyun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and a drive past the government buildings in Delhi. Return to hotel. Overnight
 
Day 03 : DELHI – BHUBANESHWAR                                                       AM FLIGHT
After breakfast at hotel transfer to airport to board flight to Bhubaneshwar. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel.
Bhubaneshwar onced formed part of the ancient kingdom of Kalinga and today some 500 of the original 7,000 temples that studded the area survive. The temples are a sharp contrast with present day relatively new city of modern architecture. The largest temple to visit is the Lingaraja Temple dating from the 11th century. The 55m high spire dominating Bhubaneswar. The 10th century Mukteswara Temple is considered to be the gem of Orissa temple architecture with an exquisitely carved “Torana” (gate). Half Day visit of temples. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 04 :BHUBANESHWAR – BALLIGUDA                                     305 Kms / 07 Hrs
After Breakfastat hotel depart by surface for BALLIGUDA, visiting typical Orissan villages.Balliguda falls in the district of Phulbani - a land of beautiful mountains, numerous villages echoing with the rythms of tribal culture and forests full of adventure and wildlife.No sooner you approach the neighbourhood of this beautiful district then you listen to the forests sounds, which are as if the fairy folk are calling you and as you drive up and down the ghat roads you cannot escape the inviting warm smiles of the local people. (If it's evening or the nightfall, you may be surprised to see animals like a Tiger or Cheetah or a herd of elephants.Picnic) Upon arrival installation at your hotel & Overnight.
 
Day 05 : BALLIGUDA – RAYAGADA                                                  165 Kms /4 Hrs
After breakfast at hotel, depart by surface for RAYAGUDA enroute visiting the famous Kondh tribes & their villages. which is the biggest tribe (950,000), and are famous in history for their Meriah Sacrifice-Human Sacrifice (Nowadays buffalo’s are sacrificed instead of humans) Kondhs life is full of festivities. The important festivals are at the time of sowing and harvesting.The Kodhs belong to the Dravidian group and speak Kui language.Their weapon is bow and arrow by which they defend themselves from wild animals. Also Visit the weekly tribal market. Upon arrival at Rayagada, installation at Hotel & Overnight.
 
DAY 06 :Excursion Dongaria Tribes                                                    47 Kms / 01 Hr
Full day visit of Dhongaria tribes.The belong to the Kondh family and are highland settlers.They are expert in horituculture and extensively celebrate their annual hunting/sowing festivals. picnic lunch enroute. After visiting their villages/lifestyles return to Rayagada. Overnight.
 
DAY 07:RAYAGADA – Chatikona – JEYPORE                      220 Kms / 04 Hrs 
After breakfast drive down to Chatikona to witness the weekly tribal market of this colourful Donghria Kondh tribes which occurs once every Wednesday.It is a unique opportunity to witness such a colourful concentration of typical tribes at one place. More interesting would be to watch women in their colourlful costumes and jewellery and ofcourse their barter system. After the visit of market return to hotel. Post lunch depart for Jeypore- in Koraput district. Enroute brief halts to visit the low land tribes and their settlements. Arrive in the evening and check into your Hotel & Overnight.
 
DAY 08 : JEYPORE-ONUKUDELLI                                           75kms / 01 ½ Hrs 
After breakfast drive down to Onukudelli area to see the famed Didayi Bonda tribes. In this district of Koraput-on the northwest of river Machkund, live the wildest,rudest and possibly the most interesting tribe known as Bonda tribe.The scanty dress of Bonda women and homicidal tendency of Bonda males make them most fascinating people. Thus they stand in sharp contrasts from the neighbouring castes and tribes of Orissa.The Bonda call themselves-Remo and speak a very difficult Austro-Asiatic language.they are generally agriculturists and expert cultivators. The irrigated and terraced paddy fields on high hills prove their skill in rice cultivation. Inspite of their primitiveness and so called poverty, the Bondas enjoy a high degree of economic sufficiency. Picnic lunch enroute. After Visit return back to Jeypore & Overnight.
 
DAY 09 :Excursion Praja & Sana Tribes                                75 Kms / 02 Hrs 
Full day visit of Paraja and Sona tribe- weekly tribal market on Friday and villages. The Paraja tribe are found mostly in Koraput district.Their language is Parji. The Parajas have a number of totemistic septs like Bagh- Tiger, Bokda-goat, Netan-dog, Panki-dove and the like, and harming of eating of the totem animals is strictly forbidden and instead they should be respected. They worship various Gods and Goddesses residing in hills or forests.During wedding the Parajas resort to dance and music. Lunch enroute.Evening return to Jeypore & Overnight.
 
DAY 10 :Excursion Lamtaput                                                     75 Kms / 02 Hrs
Full day visit of Lamptaput area to visit the Gadabba tribe and their weekly tribal market on Saturday. The Gadabba tribes are one of the most colourful and most primitive tribe of Orissa.They are one of the early settlers of the country and trace their origin to the time of Ramayana. They are generally seen in the adjoining mountain tracts of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Their main concentration is in the Koraput district and their maximum population is in Lamptaput. They have their own language Gutab and are not a migratory folk.They live permanently in large villages.Their famous dance is Demsa and you may have an opportunity to visit their villages and witness this colourful dance of the Gadabba tribes.lunch enroute. After visitng the Gadabbas return to Jeypore & Overnight.
 
DAY 11 :JEYPORE – RAYAGADA                                                 140 Kms / 04 Hrs
After breakfast checkout and drive for Rayagada enroute visiting some of the the Tribal village/ settlements of the Desia Kondh tribes. They also belong to the famed Kondh tribes of Orissa. They also expert cultivators.Witness the weekly market and lunch enroute. Arrive in the evening and check into Hotel overnight
 
DAY 12:RAYAGADA – TAPTAPANI                                            165 Kms / 04 Hrs
After breakfast checkout and drive for Taptapnai enroute visitng the Saora tribes and their lifestyles.The Saora tribes are also one of the early settlers and trace their origin to Mahabarat. lunch enroute. Arrive in the evening and check in to Taptapani-Toursit Bungalow. Overnight.
 
DAY 13: TAPTAPANI – Chilka Lake – PURI                               225 Kms / 05 Hrs
After breakfast depart for Puri enroute visiting Chilka Lake- the largest brackish water lake in Asia-spreading over 1200 sqkms and is famous for its migratory birds which comes from as far as Siberia during winter months. You will also have the opptunity to see Irawaddi Dolphins- minimum cruise 2 hrs. lunch at the tourist bugalw-chilka lake. After lunch drive down to Puri- Arrive in the evening and check into Hotel and Overnight.

DAY 15: PURI – Konark – BHUBANESHWAR                         110Kms / 02 Hrs
After breakfast visit the Jagannath Temple, craftsmen village. Thereafter leave for Bubaneshwar. Enroute Visit the Famous Konark, for its Sun Temple “the Black Pagoda”, standing in solitary splendour amongst the sand dunes. The temple is the most striking example of Kalinga architecture and is designed as a huge chariot of the Sun God. Constructed with twelve pairs of wheels and drawn by seven exquisitely carved and ornamented horses, the now-ruined monument stands in magnificent. DAY 16:BHUBANESHWAR / DELHI or KOLKATTA                         Noon Flight.
